Software Engineer

About this role

At Taxi for Email you'll be working in a hands-on, collaborative environment. Your day-to-day will vary from sprint to sprint, and will include developing new features for our product as well as maintaining existing services. You may be working closely with UX designers, our support team, or QA team members to define the scope of new features and investigate bugs.

Our main tech stack includes Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and Amazon Web Services. We believe in agile development and don't like to pigeonhole our team members or tie them to a single task. Each of our developers works with a wide range of technologies, typically getting involved with both back end and front end code.

You

The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for technical problem solving and will enjoy learning new languages, frameworks and techniques. Great teamwork and communication skills are essential.

Essential skills and qualifications

• A university degree or in computer science, engineering, maths, physics or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• Strong teamwork skills, enjoys sharing knowledge and code reviews, and not afraid of getting things wrong.
• Enjoys problem solving.
• Experience of building software products (as an intern, in personal projects, or as a job)

Plus if you have experience in these, that's a bonus

• Building web apps 
• Some experience of a system level programming language (C++/Java)
• Ruby (Rails/Sinatra), Node.js
• Amazon Web Services
• NoSQL (DynamoDb, Mongo, etc)
• Knows how to write tests and set standards and help the team move forward with this
• Email marketing tools and technology

Location

This role is based in our studio in Clerkenwell, London. Please note that our developer roles are on-site only.
